Costech ECS 4010 EA System
The Costech ECS 4010 EA is a specialized gas chromatograph (GC), set up for detecting only permanent gases, measuring the product of catalysts facilitating combustion turning organic samples into their C to CO₂, N to N₂ gas, and H₂O products in solid samples via a combustion reaction. This product gas is then sent to a Thermal Conductivity Detector for measurement. This system is specifically designed to get solid samples, including Glass Fiber Filters, into a gas state for carbon-to-nitrogen ratio analysis and CHN quantification.
Additional methods are possible for oxygen and sulfur determination. These alternate modes require advance coordination with CEST staff to have the systems reconfigured for the appropriate chemistry.
