Bay Instruments MIMS

20171017 090602

The Bay Instruments Membrane Inlet Mass Spectrometer (MIMS) is a specialized MS with a novel membrane inlet designed to introduce dissolved gases into the Mass Spectrometer directly from water samples collected from streams, lakes, wetlands and other aquatic environments.

This instrument allows direct measurement of gaseous Oxygen, Nitrogen, and Argon in water samples without degradation from headspace recovery or digestions.

This technique does use Liquid Nitrogen and will require some cryogenic training from CEST staff in addition to instrument training.  Alternatively, a Julabo FT902 immersion cooler capable of holding the inlet at -90C provides a more stable analytical envrironment.
